I really like playing Maze Rats. I am a game designer. This led me to ask, what could be "better" about Maze Rats? This game is an answer. Keep in mind that "better" is a subjective and moving standard.

The central mechanism of play is rolling two dice and adding an ability (STR, DEX, or WIL) to avoid Danger on a total of 10 or more.

The magic is based on wagering stamina - one's own, or someone else's - to gain favors from ghosts. Ghosts vary in power. The more powerful ones exact a bigger wager, for bigger favors.

19 January 2023: I added an urban modern fantasy variant. It differs a little in the combat rules, a bit more in the rules for making a character.

30 January 2023: I have extensively and repeatedly revised the combat rules to make them simpler, simpler, simpler. Initiative is descending order of DEX, harm is a constant value based on STR and/or DEX and Attack Bonus, a shield lets you add AB to your defense roll, armor lets you ignore harm less than one of your danger dice.

1 February 2023: Changed "health" to "stamina" and altered the rule for when a PC is slain. Unified combat rules between the "ghosts" and "u.m.f" versions.
